Health care services at TED Ankara College Foundation Schools provide a localized practice based on a global understanding and attitude in the field. “A Healthy School” covers the physical, mental and social well-being of students and staff in a school setting, and the services include all the evaluation and improvement activities needed for the provision and maintenance of a healthy climate and thus for the well-being of the whole school community. TED Ankara College provides extensive emergency healthcare services for its students and staff. As the school buildings are situated on a large campus area, each school building plus the administrative building contains a separate healthcare unit. All the healthcare units operate between 8.00 a.m-5.00 p.m. However, due to the schedule of the extracurricular activities held in school, the work hours can continue till 7.00 p.m. during the week. Additionally, middle and high school units are open between 9.00a.m-4.15p.m on Saturdays. Our institution sponsors employee activities that foster and develop a healthy and secure school environment. To that end, emergency response teams along with a well-equipped ambulance are always ready to respond to any emergency at the school between the hours of 7:50a.m- 10:00p.m.
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT, MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION DEPARTMENT
The Program Development, Measurement and Evaluation Department aims to increase the quality of its educational services by investigating, developing and implementing educational programs whilst evaluating models and techniques which enable the assessment of student achievement in specific areas. With these goals in mind PDMED works on program development and evaluation by analyzing teaching programs. The Department organizes seminars and studio work opportunities as part of its teacher in-service training to increase the quality of educational activities in the school. As part of its testing services, the administration continues to develop its test question bank and prepares school and student performance evaluation reports from acquired test results.
THE GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING DEPARTMENT
Keeping the developmental stages of students in mind, the GCD aims to help students cope with difficulties before they turn into serious problems. Furthermore, the GCD supports students to raise social awareness, and helps them become compatible, communicative, healthy and creative individuals who are sensitive to their environment. The Guidance and Counseling Department, with its experienced staff of psychologists and counselors, uses a student-centered approach and works not only with students but at the same time with teachers, administrators and parents in order to help students with issues such as getting used to school, knowing who they are and career guidance. It is the goal of our student-centered GCD to provide the best services to the students by utilizing modern guidance techniques in accordance with the needs of the school community. One of the GCD’s most important duties is to provide students with helpful information about their choices for higher education as well as their future professions.
OVERSEAS CAREER COUNSELLING SERVICES
Under the umbrella of the Guidance and Counselling Department, our Overseas Career Counselling Services help those high school students who are interested in continuing their education abroad. The primary function of the centre is to help students become familiar with university opportunities abroad, to follow up with those who are interested and to seek scholarship possibilities. The goal is to expand students’ choices for higher education and help them make the best and most appropriate decision.
Our Research Libraries in the Primary, Middle and High Schools have been established according to the standards of the European Union, and along with our Documentation Center, they are exemplary among private school libraries in Turkey. The various collections in our libraries include books, periodicals, research materials, sheet music, audio-visual material (VCD, Video, Cassettes, Posters etc.) as well as every form of electronic information (on and off-line). The collection is constantly being updated according to current needs. Our Library and Documentation Center plays an important role in the implementation of our educational programs as they meet students’ needs for all kinds of information resources and help teachers in their professional development.
