Kindergarten

Kindergarten

The 4 and 5 year-olds in Kindergarten confidently take their first steps in education under the direction of the Philosophy and Mission Statement of TED Ankara College. The Kindergarten curriculum focuses on specific mental and physical developmental characteristics, as well as the needs and interests of 4 and 5 year-olds. Within this framework, an educational atmosphere is established where children are able to display their individuality and talent, as well as improve their emotional and physical potential in order to be ready emotionally, mentally and socially for their primary education.

Every Kindergarten class is staffed with two university graduate teachers. There are a maximum of 20 students in each class. Our 55 square meter classrooms with wooden floors have been designed to maximize daily sunlight. Every classroom and activity room opens out to the garden and outside shared play areas. Every classroom has its own bathroom utilities, including a child size sink and toilet. Each class is equipped with safe and mobile furniture, educational and developmentally appropriate toys and materials, internet connection and a projector. Our kindergarten, with all the essential physical features of a modern educational environment, focuses on child-centered learning.

Our school is located in a wide green area with three playgrounds and a greenhouse. We also have a dining hall where both children and teachers have their lunch. In Kindergarten, The Ministry of National Education’s Regulations are being applied to increase our students’ interests and skills and enrich their knowledge along with extra-curricular activities such as Drama, Computer, Music and Movement, Arts and Crafts, Physical Education, Child Yoga, Library, Science and Nature-Children’s Kitchen, Storytime, Creative Activities, Funtime-Roleplay and English. Each activity is carried out by a branch teacher in its own atelier.

We have project-based activities such as Museum and Archeological Studies, Character Education, I Can Problem Solve, and Bird Observation. Additionally, we are carrying out a Life-Long Learning Project: Eco School. We also participate in various international competitions. The English activities in our kindergarten are given by both Turkish and Native speaker teachers. The English program is geared towards fostering the children’s love and awareness of the English language. This is achieved by the use of drama, TPR (Total Physical Response), games, visual aids (flashcards, puppets, picture books, etc.), songs and chants, short movies and stories.
