TED ANKARA COLLEGE FOUNDATION
PRIVATE HIGH SCHOOL
International
Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme
The International Baccalaureate (IB)
Program is a comprehensive and rigorous two-year curriculum, leading
to examination for students aged between sixteen and nineteen, and
culminating in the award of a diploma. Based on the pattern of no
single country, it is a deliberate compromise between the specialization
required in some national systems and the breadth preferred in others.
IB was brought to our school in the autumn of 1999 providing an International
Diploma to students who meet the academic criteria.
At TED Ankara College the IB Prep Program is offered to grades 9&10,
the IB Diploma Program is offered to grades 11&12. IB students
pursue either the Mathematics-Science track or the Turkish-Mathematics
track. They choose courses related to their fields in conjunction
with the requirements of the National Curriculum.
The general objectives of the IB are:
- to provide students with a balanced education;
- to facilitate geographic and cultural mobility;
- to promote international understanding through a shared academic
experience.
The IB Program strives to promote the highest standard of education
that will positively impact the student's approach to further education
and life. Students meeting the requirements of the program are given
many opportunities to develop a kind of creativity and skill that
will aid their success in university and future life.
In addition to the knowledge and skills gained from this program,
students with an IB diploma are being accepted by both outstanding
national and international universities.
