ACTIVITIES

Our training philosophy which aims to grow our students as physically, mentally and spiritually balanced and healthy individuals, as well as preparing room for academic development, also prepares them for life as social, art-friendly, capable of problem solving, self-confident, creative and productive persons. Acting with "Learning life-long slogan, many activities in many fields in many fields from sports to arts, or science are organized in our campus which was made available to our students for maximum utilization for technological, physical, all sorts of opportunities in the era of knowledge whence knowledge is no longer squeezed between book and notebook.

In our school, which supports all kind of activities which can reveal, develop talents of students, the opportunity of exhibiting their artistic products in Culture-Art days and weeks and other important days and week is given to them by participating studies in theatre, poetry, painting, sculpture, ceramic, dancing, music and folklore. Our students can participate in club activities organized in many subtitles where they can improve their talents and experiences and can develop social projects.

We live in honor of being mentioned with our success in international society too as being an institution which has proved its pioneering role countless times in the national education platform. Our students have successfully represented our country many times in MEP (Model European Parliament) and International Science Olympics. "Spring Day in Europe," an international project supported by Eurapean Union and celebrated all over the world is also celebrated in our school each year with several activities such as debates, panels and exhibitions.

Our students participating in a UNESCO supported project, Model UNESCO (MUNESCO), take part in bilateral cultural activities by constituting brotherhoods/sisterhoods with schools in other countries and take part in short or long term student exchange programs with several countries. The studies carried out under the scope of The Global Project which aims to form environmental consciousness and Young Reporters for the Environment Project organized by European Environmental Training Foundation are among the international activities carried out by our school.

The main reason of organizing many activities supported by European Commission in our school is to let young generation be trained with knowledge and equipment accumulation neccessary for them to take part in formation of future of their country and the world. These young people will be part of life with debate culture and democracy already absorbed.

The indoor and outdoor gymnasium of our campus, which is located in the middle of nature, let us reach our aim of raising healthy individuals. Our school which leads young people towards sports branches in accordance with their talents and which does not limit sports within sports lessons hours and our club which trains them in the best possible way prove the importance of school-club cooperation by winning many national and international achievements.

Apart from multipurpose gymnasiums, music and paint workshops warehouses; computer, mathematics, social and science laboratories aim to constitute a pleasurable working environment for our students.

AFS (American Field Service)
In order to participate the AFS program (an inter-cultural student exchange program) which covers 60 countries, it is required to successfully complete written and oral examinations and fulfill the financial requirement.

The students who has prerequisitions can be sent to any country who wishes for a yearly perior staying with a parent. The student can continue his education in the country he was sent after returning to his country, having some lefal procedures continue his education.

Young Reporters for the Environment
It is conducted by the Environmental Club. The students can deal with an environmental problem and share ideas about the problem with another European students who take part in the same project through the internet.

School Choir, Folk Music and Orchestrail Practise
The students who are chosen by regarding to their intrests and abilities in music, have been practising at school at different times. They also take part in the concerts, opera and they have opportunities to show their skills and compositions.

Theatre
Every year there are two different types of plays both in Turkish and in English. These kinds of theatral activities are also done in English, Turkish Language and Literature, in philosophy. Therefore, there are a lot of opportunities in which students can express themselves freely.


Student Clubs

These clubs are organized aiming at improving students skills and supporting all facilities which enable the students to gain social responsibilities. These clubs are having activities in terms of social, culture, artistic, and sports fields. These clubs can also have team work with the other clubs abroad.

Social work activities include all kinds of social and environmental activities related to students' abilities. All students should do at least 25 hours social work in one semester.These activities are shown in the students report cards as completed, or not completed.

Our main targets in the social work are contribution, being well-organized, continuity, productivity, and voluenteering.

All these activities are done under the supervision of a guidance teacher. Starting from the second week after school, starts grade 9 students do all these club activities on Wednesdays during the 6th, 7th periods, while the other graders do it according to the most suitable time allocated by their teacher.


MUN, MUNTR, MUNESCO, MEP, GYS

The students of TED Ankara College Foundation Private High School have been successfully representing both our country and school in both national and international platforms since 1995. With the guidance of knowing and learning different norms, identifying world problems and seeking peace and understanding messages to the world for several years.

Under the guidance of the director of Debate Club, students have been participating in MUN, MEP and EYP conferences that are being held annually in both national and international platforms. They have been successful in these conferences with their systematic and well-organized preperation, their view about wold politics. Their deep knowledge about issues, their abilities to find solutions via diplomacy and their fluent English.

The students are debating in the conferences, panels, summits and forums with respect to the procedure of the parliament they are simulating. They represent different countries and their points of views as delegates. They discuss recent world issues on the agenda, prepare a resolution after their discussions and present it to the General Assembly. All discussions and activities included in the conference are proceeded in English.

These activities done by TED Ankara College, help our students to be aware of the world problems, seek solutions in democratic processes, improve their debating and leader ship skills, and to enable them to be international and sensitive individuals.

MUN (Model United Nations): MUN is a social and political activity which simulates United Nations in which students represent delegates of different countries and discuss UN's agenda with the same procedures of UN. MUN conferences are organized by many different schools, organizations and associations both in Turkey and abroad.

MUNTR: MUNTR is a conference organized annually by the same association which involves participants from both high school and university.

MUNESCO: MUNESCO is a conference organized annually by Bilkent BUPS/BIS Schools, which follows the UN procedures.

Global Youth Summit: GYS is a conference organized by TED Ankara College Foundation Private High School Politics and Diplomacy Club firstly in the 2007-2008 academic year. It is a conference based on the procedure of the MUN, MUNTR, MUNESCO. It is a simulation of the European Parliament. Our Politics and Diplomacy Club submit resolutions about world's current problems together with international participants. These resolutions are debated and voted in our National Parliamentary Building.

Politics and Diplomacy Club provides sessions both in weekends and weekdays in order to guide and educate other students who wish to participate such conferences with the club directors.

The Society Of Atatürk's Philosophy

At TED Ankara College we aim to raise students who are followers of Atatürk's principles, a group students from the High School section formed this society in the 2007-2008 Academic year.

With the motto of Atatürk's saying "Turkish Youth is the owner and the preserver of the Turkish Republic and Revolutions." This group organizes seminars, discussion panels by inviting academic staff who are researching Atatürk and the Republic. As for the students, they also share their ideas with their friends about Turkish history, or Turkey's internal and external political challenges by holding conferences.

UNIVERSITY PREP. COURSES

In our school starting from 1985-1986 academic year, there have been university prep courses. These courses which are useful for the grade 10 and 11th graders are given by experienced teachers in their fields. Every academic year, at the beginning of the second term courses are open and all necessary information is given to the parents and students.

First Certificate Exam

At our school with the cooperation of The British Association, each year FCE exam is executed prepared by the UCLES, Cambridge University Exam Centre.
